TAKE OUT YOUR TROPICALS
Tips and advice from senior members on moving your trees outside
Summer has arrived and your tropical trees are happy to get back outside and into the sun! This typically occurs once the low temperatures remain above 50 degrees. We suggest some of the following advice when taking out your trees.Â
- Weather should be above 55° consistently at night. Usually later in the second half of May or Memorial Day
- Check your trees for any pests/infestations/fungus/etc and spray as neededÂ
- Remove any wire that is biting in
- Fertilize weekly with liquid fertilizerÂ
- You may start to repot some hardier trees after they are outside for a bit
- Place your trees in shade the first few days or up to two weeks after bringing outside before placing in the sun to acclimate
- Place your trees in the proper lighting conditions. Some trees prefer part shadeÂ
