While our club show has been canceled for 2021, we are still looking to have two “socially distanced” events this year. We are planning on the having another bonsai garden walk in conjunction with the Midwest Bonsai Club and we are also looking forward to the Prairie State Bonsai Society summer picnic and exhibition at Cantigny this year on July 26th. This will be our usual summer picnic, however Cantigny has also asked us to set up a few display tables so that visitors can see the bonsai trees in the summer setting as opposed to the winter setting of the silhouette show. We will have more details in next month’s newsletter but we wanted to let you know so that you can save the date.
Due to the success of last years bonsai garden walk, the Prairie State Bonsai Society and Midwest Bonsai Club are interested in putting together a late summer/early fall bonsai garden walk again this year. The event will take place over two weekends (one day per weekend) most likely in September.
We are therefore once again looking for people who would be interested in sharing their bonsai with friends and club members. We want to give everyone a chance to enjoy the garden walk so we are asking interested people to open their garden for just one of the two days. The actual weekends and days will be determined after collecting all responses. We are in the planning phases.
All Prairie State members in good standing are eligible to participate. Club members who open their gardens for the walk will also have the opportunity to sell items during the event. 10% of your sales will go to the club treasury, the same as if you sold items at a club meeting. Please note that masks will be required and all social distancing measures will be in effect.
Contact Nick DiBattista by email, nicholasd_1@yahoo.com, if you are interested in being a part of the bonsai garden walk, either as a visitor or opening your yard for visitors. Please respond by July 27th.
