Dear Members,
While I was away on vacation, I heard that our general meeting on September 11, 2024, was both informative and engaging. Members had the pleasure of participating in a pot-making workshop led by one of our past presidents, Mr. Don Lindstrom. He skillfully guided participants through the various steps of creating bonsai pots. These raw pots will be fired off-site by Don and returned at the next meeting to be distributed to the participants. A special acknowledgment goes to Don Lindstrom for sharing his skills and passion for pot making.
Next month, on October 2, 2024, we will host an Iron Bonsai competition. Phil Malhoit, Larry Magee, and Elle Nieto-Brodnick will compete in styling three different Shimpaku Junipers within a limited time. These trees will be raffled off at the end of the meeting. We encourage all members to attend, participate in the raffle, and have a chance to win a beautifully styled bonsai tree.
We are already planning special events for next year, including the Silhouette Show in February 2025, a picnic in June 2025, the DA Show in August 2025, and a River Walk in Naperville sometime in mid-summer (date TBD).
